Research Paper
Research any well known architecture, art, property, map, monument, object, etc. that have triangular components. You are to write a research paper on your topic as well as find the area(s) of the triangle(s). You must also create an artifact to show your topic and present to the class. Below are the components:
Paper:
Artifact:
Work sited
Learning Targets:
I can apply my knowledge of triangles to every day life.
I can explain my reasoning of how to find the area of triangles.
I can label the types of triangles used.
I can demonstrate how and apply the formula for area of a triangle.
Narrative:
This research paper will be another great way for students to explore triangles in a real-life setting. This will be a good documentation as a teacher to see how well each student is understanding the information covered in the unit. Not only will this allow students to think like mathematicians and research topics they may have never thought about, but students will be able to express themselves in mathematics in a way that they are not used too. Incorporating reading and writing is important in math, and this research project will help demonstrate that.
Paper:
- What is it? Give the details, history, location, and other important information about your topic.
- What are the triangle components? Why are they there? Do they have a purpose? What are the dimensions of the triangles? What are the areas? What types of triangles are used?
- 2 pages minimum.
Artifact:
- Create an artifact that displays your topic and demonstrates the triangles.
- The triangles must be clearly displayed and labeled with the base and height.
- Examples: poster, scrapbook, video, powerpoint, model, etc.
Work sited
